Never by Bryl R. Tyne
He lingered near the street lamp, at the back of the crowd of many. Onlookers, some curious others watching with their discerning stares, waited for me to make a mistake. Sure, I was capable of messing up, blowing my cover. I’d done it more than a dozen times before. Of course there was a reason I kept moving, roaming town to town, place to endless place. Never would I be accepted…not with my flaws. But I would not screw this up tonight. I couldn’t. He was here. At the back of the crowd, he leaned against the lamp post and lit a cigarette, expecting a perfect show.
