Timeless Desire Blog Tour with Sarah Ballance
I’m welcoming Sarah Ballance today!
Hey there, Sarah! Let’s get started, shall we?
Me: What genres do you enjoy reading most?
Sarah: Hands down, romantic suspense. I read my first one as a free Kindle download from Amazon, and it
was love at first sight. I knew from that moment I had to write romantic suspense, and every time I pick one up I fall in love with the genre all over again—in fact, it’s a guaranteed way to re-energize my writing when I hit the skids. There’s something about adding elements of danger to sexual tension that gives me a delicious inner meltdown.
Me: Why do you write and when did you start?
Sarah: I write because it gives me a feeling of accomplishment. I homeschool my six kids. With seven of us in the house the majority of the day, nothing is ever “done.” There’s always more laundry, more school work, a pile of dishes to wash, and a situation to diffuse. If things dare get boring, something always happens to remedy it in short order. (Two-hundred-fifty pound hog running loose in the yard, anyone?). Writing not only offers an escape from that, but it gives me a solid sense of achievement. But I never wanted to be an author—in fact, I started three years ago because I heard myself tell someone I couldn’t do it. I think I’ve soundly proven myself wrong, LOL.
Me: Much of your writing is rather erotic, though not all. I’m curious, what your family feels about your writing? Are they supportive?
Sarah: Outside of my husband, my family doesn’t know. They know I write because I have quite a few nonfiction credits, but nary a one knows I’ve made the switch to fiction. Even though my writing doesn’t usually cross the line to graphic, I know enough about *some* of the people in my life to know they’d judge, and I don’t want them to take it out on my kids. There’s been an unfortunate trend of that kind of thing, so I’m laying low until the kids are a bit older. In the meantime, I’ve met an amazing community of readers and writers online so I’m not at all lacking in support, and my husband is my biggest fan (not to mention the best research partner EVER!).
Me: What’s the most interesting comment you’ve received from a reader?
Sarah: Oh, gosh, it’s hard to narrow this down. Any time a reader takes the time to comment it just blows my mind, and when they go so far as to say my stories have touched them or made them cry, I feel like I’m at the pinnacle of everything I could hope to be as an author.
Me: Writing can be a lonely venture. Sometimes, sacrifices are required in our lives. Are the sacrifices worth it? What are your continuing career goals?
Sarah: As a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom, there’s no lack of quality time with my kids. I spend a lot of one-on-one time with them on a daily basis. (Although not without fail, as some days they go to work with my husband or spend the night with grandparents). That said, the only real sacrifice is “family time” in the evenings because that’s when my husband takes over and I go hide to write. As much as I’d like to have more of those Norman Rockwell moments with the whole gang, the fact is almost everything lands in chaos when you’re dealing with six young children. In the meantime, my husband and I aren’t lacking in quality time together. We certainly know how to make every second count. *grin*
Me: What did you eat for breakfast this morning?
Sarah: Aw, man, I’m busted. We baked chocolate chip cookies for breakfast. *hangs head, wipes chocolate from lip*
Me: Chin up, lady. You’ve had the best breakfast yet, imo! Hah! (psst! Pass me one of those.)
Me: What’s your favorite position?
Sarah: Um, what? Let’s just say I’ve yet to find out I don’t like, but I’m all about experimenting with my husband until I find one I do! LOL.

About Sarah Ballance
Sarah Ballance author bio: Sarah and her husband of over fourteen years live on the mid-Atlantic coast with their six young children, all of whom are perfectly adorable when they’re asleep. She often jokes that she writes to be around people who will listen to her, but her characters aren’t much better than her kids. Fortunately, her husband is quite supportive, having generously offered to help her research “the good parts.” She’s never had to ask twice.

FAMILIAR LIGHT by Sarah Ballance
Noble Romance Timeless Desire Collection
BLURB
Seven years of longing comes down to just one night.
Laney Kent returns to Barrier Shoals hoping to reunite with her first love, Bridger. She anticipates his reception might be chilly, but what she doesn’t expect is to become the victim of a deadly obsession … or that this night with Bridger could be her last.
Bridger Jansen tangled a lot of sheets trying to forget about Laney, but his heart knew what the rest of him refused to admit: he could love no one else. He’s determined not to forgive her for leaving him without explanation, but when he fails to protect her from a viscous attack, the person he can’t forgive just might be himself.
Thank you for having me. Please leave your email with your comments to go into the draw for a prize. I’m also giving away a $5 Noble GC (to a random commenter). Then click on the tour logo in the sidebar to go to the next blog in the tour.

Thanks Sarah, I know what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow. Mmmm Chocolate!
I’m with Carol, my books to buy list is going to put me in the poor house if I don’t win the lottery. Probably more likely to happen if I actually buy a ticket. Thanks for the opportunity to win some book money.
